Menjual tegel mulai semenjak th. 1999, Sukiman awal mulanya yakni buruh di pabrik tegel selama 5th. Menurut dia, Selain membuahkan nuansa klasik, pemakaian tegel juga lebih untungkan. Dibanding dengan keramik serta porselen, tegel mempunyai pori-pori hingga tak mudah pecah jikalau terkena suhu panas.

Selain corak polos, tegel retro juga di buat dengan motif bunga, daun, batik, bentuk-bentuk geometris, hingga bentuk-bentuk dekoratif lain. Tidak cuma Sukiman yang melaksanakan usaha pembuatan tegel retro. Riwanto, yang memiliki CV. Tegel Wong Yogya juga telah berkiprah di usaha ini mulai semenjak 10 th yang lalu. Ia mengklaim tegelnya lebih unggul dibanding dengan tegel produksi lain lantaran, menggabungkan motif Melayu. 

Dari usaha ini, Riwanto dapat beroleh omzet Rp 9 juta satu bulan. Omzet itu didapat dari penjualan tegel polos Rp 60.000 per m², serta motif warna-warni Rp 160.000 per m². 

Riwanto menuturkan, tegel di buat dalam beberapa langkah proses produksi. Yakni, pengayakan pasir serta semen, pencetakan, serta bantuan warna. Tidak cuma itu, supaya berpengaruh tegel juga mesti lewat sistem pengeringan awal, perendaman, pengeringan final serta pengepakan. " Perlu pengalaman bertahun-tahun untuk dapat kuasai tekniknya, " tutur Riwanto. 

Perendaman jadi sistem yang sangatlah utama sesudah tegel lewat pengeringan pertama. Perendaman sepanjang 24 jam itu berperan untuk merapatkan pori-pori tegel serta menguatkan susunan hingga tidak gampang pecah. Sesudah di rendam, barulah tegel masuk step pengeringan final sepanjang empat-lima hari. 

Baik Sukiman ataupun Riwanto mengakui demam isu harapan tegel retro sudah menanjak mulai semenjak 5th terakhir. Hal semacam ini bersamaan banyak customer yang mau kembali mempunyai ubin dengan design tempo dahulu yang lebih artistik.
